I'm Andreas Sheriff โ Senior DBA, AI developer, and founder of DBA Intelligent Agent. My career spans Oracle and SQL Server consulting for Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and fast-growing technology businesses across multiple industries.
Based in San Diego, CA, I combine deep database expertise with modern AI development โ building tools that give database teams the intelligence and automation they need to stay ahead. I also teach and publish research at thereallearnwithme.com.
Independent consulting for Fortune 500 clients and high-growth technology companies. Specializing in Oracle and SQL Server performance tuning, architecture reviews, and AI-augmented database automation. Founder of DBA Intelligent Agent โ an AI platform for autonomous database operations.
Fifteen years of mission-critical Oracle consulting across financial services, healthcare, and government sectors. Projects included multi-terabyte OLTP systems, Exadata deployments, Oracle RAC / Data Guard architectures, and large-scale database migrations.
Started as a junior DBA on Oracle 7, progressing through Oracle 8i, 9i, and 10g as the technology matured. Gained broad experience across SQL Server, DB2, and Sybase while specializing in Oracle. Built a foundation in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high-availability design.
An autonomous AI platform for database teams. Connects to Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle โ providing real-time monitoring, AI-driven diagnostics, natural language query, automated workflows, and document generation. Built with a FastAPI backend, React frontend, and support for 9 LLM providers.
A teaching and research platform where I publish courses and articles on database administration, AI development, and the intersection of the two. Aggregates my YouTube content and written research in one place.

I came to database administration the way most people do in the early 1990s โ by accident. I was hired as a systems programmer, but the DBA kept leaving and someone had to keep Oracle running. That someone became me.
Three decades later, I've managed some of the largest Oracle and SQL Server environments in financial services, healthcare, and government. I've seen the industry evolve from tape backups and weekly maintenance windows to cloud-native, always-on architectures โ and I've adapted every step of the way.
The AI chapter started when I realized that 80% of what a DBA does is pattern recognition: the same wait events, the same locking chains, the same performance signatures. If I could recognize those patterns after 30 years, a well-trained model could too โ faster, at 3am, without a pager. That insight became DBA Intelligent Agent.
Today I split my time between consulting engagements, building the agent, and teaching what I know at thereallearnwithme.com. The goal is to give every DBA team access to the kind of institutional knowledge that used to live only in the heads of the most experienced people in the room.
